Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, and welcome back to day six.
Today I want to talk to you about the importance of saying ‘no’.

Every time you say ‘yes to something;
You’re inadvertently saying ‘no’ to something else!

I talked to you yesterday about time blocking and every time you’re saying ‘yes’ you’re putting a time block in that means you have to say ‘no’ to something else!

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Tristan Griffiths and you can find me as @ImTristanG across all the socials, please do connect with me wherever you most like to spend time, let’s connect, let’s have a conversation and see how I can help you.

I want to encourage you today to say ‘NO’ more

We live in a world where our time, our attention, is in so much demand. There’s so many social media platforms that we could be spending time on, there’s Netflix, there’s calls, there’s messages, there’s WhatsApps, there’s all sorts of methods that are trying to grab our attention.

I want to encourage you today, to say ‘NO’ more

  • Make sure that you’re focused on what that big goal was that we talked about.
  • Make sure that you know what the things are that you need to get done in a day.
  • Make sure that you’re putting those things in place to get you successfully towards that goal, so you can achieve and feel good about yourself.

I want you to say ‘no’ to things that don’t align to what is on your pathway, what is your goal, what is your intention.

Saying ‘NO’ to things will leave you the flex space and the capacity to say ‘yes’ to the right things when they come along.

All too often business owners feel like they need to say ‘yes’ to all the opportunities that come up, even if they’re not a good fit.

I want you to look at every opportunity that comes your way and decide is this alined to what Im trying to achieve? Or is it a distraction?

The same is true of all the social platforms.

As a social media agency he/ping people to get content out online, we have to encourage people to spend time affectively and efficiently in the right places. The importance there is the right places. It’s not about being everywhere if your audience isn’t necessarily there or those platforms and those places don’t contribute towards the goal and the achievement that your looking for in your business.

So make sure, that as opportunities come along, as new platforms develop, as people make requests of you, that you feel comfortable in saying ‘NO’.

When you first start its going to be super uncomfortable saying ‘NO’ to things if you’re not in the habit of it. So the more you do this, the easier it will get.

In the same way make sure that you are saying ‘yes’ to the right things, but make sure that they are the right things! Make sure they are aligned to what your trying to achieve and make sure that your only putting things in additionally into your calendar if they are actually adding value, if they are actually adding to the progress you are looking to make towards that outcome, towards that goal, towards that dream that you set out in the first place.

It might help you with something further down the line, it might help you instantly today. But those are the opportunities that you should be saying ‘yes’ to.

You shouldn’t be saying ‘YES’ to everything because not everything will be aligned to your goals and objectives for your business!

It’s completely okay to say ‘NO’ and there’s actually a redemptive power to it, because it creates this amazing space and opportunity for you to take up the right opportunities as they arrive.

Say ‘NO’ to the things that are not aligned;
Say ‘YES’ to the things that are

…And make sure you are protecting and guarding your time, affectively and efficiently.

Remember, saying ‘NO’ is one of the most powerful things you’re going to do for your business, and it will raise your productivity because all your time, effort and energy will then be spent on the right things rather than just being busy.

Busy is a badge of honour that far too many business owners are wearing proudly, but there is a reason that people refer to the ‘busy fool’.

Don’t become a busy fool;
Focus on the right things;
By saying ‘no’ to the wrong things!
